I want to settle down now, get married, and have babies. These were the words of rapper Gigi Lamayne.
Gigi, whose real name is Genesis Gabriella Tina Manney, is excited about the new chapter in her life as she turns 30.
She recently opened up to the publication about her future plans, expressing her desire to settle down, get married and have children.
She said she feels she’s now in her “businesswoman era”.
Reflecting on her new focus, she said: “I think I’m now in a place where I really want to focus on business. I’m activated into the business space. It’s not easy, I am still working on the returns on my business. It’s not like I am making money yet, but I have this newfound love for business. I really like the woman I am becoming, and I want to make more superstars, the same way Khuli gave me a platform.”
But success, according to Gigi, isn’t just about material wealth. She places great importance on family and personal growth.
“Our definitions of success are very different. Some people feel that success is getting the latest car, making a lot of money, and buying property. I’m happy to understand that success comes with a lot of perseverance and hard work.
“To me, success is being able to create a family union, bringing up children, and seeing your younger sibling go to varsity. That is the level of success I look at right now,” she said.
Gigi is also keen on challenging the stereotype that artists aren’t academic as she is close to graduating with an MBA from the University of Suffolk.
“Long term, I definitely want to expand my business profile, learn as much as possible and complete my MBA. I want people to see the academia behind the music because there is a notion that artists are not learned and don’t like books,” she said.
