Tragic Road Accident in Gweru: Four Dead, Several Injured
In a tragic development, four people died and several others were injured after a kombi was involved in an accident in Gweru.

Police Confirm Gweru Kombi Accident
In a statement on their X account, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the tragic accident which happened yesterday at around 4pm on the 3 kilometre peg along Hamutyinei Road.
“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 3 kilometre peg along Hamutyinei Road, Gweru on 15/07/24 at around 1600 hours.”

Kombi Accident Claims Four Lives, Injures Several Others
According to the police report, the accident happened after a Toyota Hiace commuter omnibus carrying 21 passengers veered off the road and overturned three times.
Tragically, four people died while 18 others were injured.
Four people died whilst 18 others were injured when a Toyota Hiace kombi with 21 passengers on board veered off the road and overturned three times before landing on its right side.
The bodies of the four deceased victims were ferried to Gweru Provincial Hospital for post mortem. Seventeen of the injured victims were also admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital, while one victim was ferried to Bulawayo United Hospitals.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital for post mortem. 17 injured victims are admitted at the same hospital whilst another victim was referred to Bulawayo United Hospitals for treatment. More details to be released in due course.
Ongoing Investigation and Future Updates
The police are still investigating the accident. They revealed that they are going to unveil more details about the accident in due course.
