United States-based musician Julian King has spoken on the recent drama involving a copyright strike on his video by Holy Ten.
The musician, born Julian Lennon Kanombirira, released his much-anticipated album Misunderstood last week. The project contains ten tracks and features artists like Nutty O, Geosteady and Phatso.
The Evil Act
Holy Ten also added a verse on the vibey song, Commando. Julian King shot a video with the Kilimanjaro hitmaker, which he released last week.
However, just three minutes after the video premiered, YouTube took it down. Holy Ten has filed a copyright claim on the song, even though he was on it.
Reports suggested that Holy Ten sabotaged Julian King because he felt his verse on the song was whack.
After the strike, Julian King appealed and shared with YouTube the contract he signed with Holy Ten for the song. YouTube replied:
“Good News! Mukudzei Chitsama has just released their copyright claim on your YouTube video. This means your copyright strike has been resolved unless Mukudzei Chitsama is still claiming other videos included in that strike.”

The One By One hitmaker was asked about his sentiments since releasing the new album last week. He took this opportunity to open up on his battles in the music industry candidly.
He revealed the problems Holy Ten caused for him unprovoked:
“I’m kind to people, even when they aren’t always kind back. One artist even asked me to delay my album because he thought it would take attention away from his. Infact he didn’t ask, he threatened me.
“Against my team’s advice, I agreed, risking my reliability with my fans in the process. Later, at what he thought was slightest inconvenience, he attacked my entire platform—even going as far as breaking the law to do it.”

The musician also said staying in the US also has a toll on his music career:
“I’m not on the ground in Zim, and my face hasn’t been seen since 2019. So because no live show or program has my face on it, I constantly have to fight for attention just to prove I’m good at what I do.”
