Hip-Hop Star Stunner Acquitted Of All Assault Charges By Court

Prominent Zimbabwean hip-hop artist, Desmond Stunner Chideme, walked free after being acquitted of assault charges by the Mbare Magistrates’ Court. The court, presided over by Magistrate Batsirai Zishiri, acquitted the musician following accusations of physically attacking his neighbor and a young girl who is a friend of his daughter.

The Allegations Explained

The case stems from an incident on August 25, when Stunner’s daughter was playing with her nine-year-old friend. According to reports presented in court, the children were chasing each other when a scuffle broke out between them. During this exchange, Stunner’s daughter allegedly fell and began crying, prompting her father to intervene.

It was claimed that in his attempt to stop the fight and protect his daughter, Stunner assaulted the other child. These allegations led to the musician being charged and brought before the court.

His legal team represented Stunner, comprising Ndanatswa Mazvimbakupa and Dumisani Mthombeni. The defence argued against the claims, maintaining that there was no substantial evidence to prove the allegations of assault.

Court’s Decision

After reviewing the case, Magistrate Zishiri found the evidence insufficient to support the prosecution’s claims. As a result, Stunner was acquitted and declared not guilty of the charges.

This verdict has relieved the hip-hop star, who has faced considerable public scrutiny since the accusations surfaced.
