Homeless California Man Arrested For Eating Train Accident Victim’s Leg
A man was recently arrested for eating a leg from a train accident victim.
Rosendo Tellez, 27, was arrested in Wasco, California after allegedly removing human remains from the city’s Amtrack Station following an accident in which a pedestrian was struck by a train.
Eyewitnesses, among them Jose Ibarra, a nearby construction worker, reported seeing Tellez, described by some Wasco residents as homeless, eating a human leg.
Disturbing footage circulating on social media captures the man holding a severed leg which he proceeds to eat before wiping his face and making his way down a sidewalk. When law enforcement authorities arrive, Tellez is seen in the video raising the severed limb.
Ibarra recounted the shocking scene to NBC affiliate KGET, stating,
“Whatever he had in his hand, he started biting in on it and everything, and it turned out to be a person’s leg. On the video that we have, it shows clearly that he started chewing on the leg and everything.”
Kern County Sheriff’s deputies swiftly intervened, arresting Tellez near the railroad tracks. He faces misdemeanour charges for removing body parts from an area that is not a cemetery. Authorities stated that Tellez had tampered with evidence following a fatal train collision earlier that day, which resulted in the severing of a victim’s leg at the Amtrak station. The incident is currently under investigation by BNSF Railway.
Tellez faces additional charges including possession of paraphernalia related to controlled substances and a felony offence for violating probation terms.
