The husband of slain environmental scientist Dorcas Lekganyane is set to appear at the Alexandra Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
The 32-year-old’s body was found with multiple stab wounds in her marital home in Bramley in July. Her husband was arrested and charged with her murder.
Weeks before her death, Lekganyane was recognized by the Mail & Guardian as one of 200 influential South Africans for 2024.
“We have been struggling to come to terms with the fact that her 3-year-old daughter will grow up without a mommy,” said the family’s spokesperson, Dr Robert Lekganyane.
“We never thought that one day the precious life of a shining young environmental scientist would be brutally terminated. We are, however, grateful for the support and comfort that we have been receiving and that we continue to receive.”
