Controversy Erupts After Zimbabwe’s Immigration Department Receives Two Deportation Vehicles

The government of Zimbabwe has come under fire after it emerged that the Immigration department has received deportation vehicles.

Zimbabwe Immigration Department Acquires Deportation Vehicles

Permanent Secretary for information, Nick Mangwana revealed the development on his X, formerly Twitter account. He announced that the Immigration Chief Director, Respect Gono was elated after receiving two deportation vehicles.

“The Immigration Chief Director, Ms Respect Gono was very happy to receive the 2 Deportation Vehicles. They have been clamoring for these and this is a milestone.”

Nick Mangwana revealed that the vehicles have the capacity to carry to 70 people and it is air conditioned.

“This vehicle has a capacity to carry 70 people, its air conditioned and deportees are transported in a humanely manner.”

Misplaced Priorities? Zimbabweans Criticize Deportation Vehicle Acquisition

The acquisition of the deportation vehicles for the Immigration department has sparked a storm on social media. Social media user questioned who they are planning on deporting and why they were buying deportation vehicles when Zimbabwe has a high number of people migrating all over the world especially South Africa.

Social media users slammed the government of Zimbabwe, accusing it of having misplaced priorities. Netizens argued that the funds used to secure the two vehicles should have been used in the fund the Health ministry.

Deportation vehicles for helping SA deport our brothers and sisters back home? How does one justify the purchase of deportation vehicles for a country everyone is running from or is being deported back to? Zimbos are the majority deportees . It twisted and convoluted thinking!!
