An independent investigator has been appointed to look into allegations of sexual misconduct against Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department chief Isaac Mapiyeye.
Mapiyeye has been placed on precautionary suspension following the surfacing of the allegations.
Earlier in September, the Ekurhuleni council authorized the city manager to begin the disciplinary process against Mapiyeye.
The city’s spokesperson Zweli Dlamini: “The city confirms the precautionary suspension of the chief of police as per a council resolution taken two weeks ago. The city has been authorized to get the services of an independent investigator to investigate the claims against the chief and report back to the council in 30 days.”
