An inkabi has allegedly threatened the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Eastern Cape Department of Education, Nokuthula Ngcingwana to resign or he deals with her.
The self-proclaimed hitman claims he was hired by her colleagues to kill her. The threats, made over a phone call, included demands for her resignation and dire warnings about harm to her and her family.

The hitman reportedly said he had detailed knowledge of Ngcingwana’s personal life.
“I’ve seen your house in Stutterheim. I know your two daughters, and I know you. By the end of the year, you’ll be underground, and all that depends on you,” he warned.
Daily Sun reports that Ngcingwana attempted to reason with the caller, asking him to verify the information provided by those who allegedly hired him. However, the hitman dismissed her suggestion:
“When a hitman is hired, we do the job. We’re not going to investigate.”
Department of Education Reacts
The Department of Education responded swiftly to the threats. Eastern Cape Education MEC Fundile Gade condemned the extortion attempt and announced that Ngcingwana has been placed on special leave. An acting CFO has been appointed to ensure business continuity.
“I view these threats as serious, and a case has been opened with law enforcement agencies for further investigation,” Gade said.
The hitman insisted his threats were serious, warning:
“You must resign, or you or your kids will die. Warning you is a favour, and killing you is easy since you’re not even a man.”
He claimed that more than five colleagues had approached him, accusing Ngcingwana of victimising them.
Police confirmed that Ngcingwana filed a case of intimidation at the Stutterheim police station on 20 November. The case has been transferred to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit.
“No arrest has been made,” said police spokeswoman Lieutenant-Colonel Siphokazi Mawisa.
Gade urged department employees and citizens to cooperate with investigators. He assured staff that efforts to address this case would also focus on eradicating similar criminal activities within the department.
“We’ll relentlessly pursue those responsible,” he vowed.
