Inside the Titan: YouTuber Shares Video of Titanic Submarine Days Before Tragic Incident
YouTuber Jake Koehler, widely known as DALLMYD, recently shared footage from his cancelled Titan expedition alongside OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, who tragically lost their lives on the ill-fated submersible last year.
In a brief clip posted on his Facebook page, which was originally part of a YouTube video shared last year, DALLMYD was accompanied by his girlfriend, Kyndall Johnson.
The YouTuber documented their entire experience during ‘Mission III,’ which had to be called off due to unfavorable weather conditions.
“We never left the platform, [but if] fog didn’t roll in and cancel the dive, who knows maybe we would have left that platform and maybe we would have imploded,” DALLMYD explained.
in the clip shared on his Facebook, DALLMYD narrated the whole ordeal and even showed footage of CEO
In the Facebook clip, DALLMYD narrated the ordeal and showcased CEO Stockton Rush, depicting their descent to around 33 feet underwater. He inquired about the submarine’s controls, which were revealed to be operated using a gaming console.
In a voiceover, DALLMYD detailed how the planned dive was thwarted by rough weather conditions and the entanglement of the submersible in a ghost net, resulting in damage to some of its components. Rush also mentioned technical issues with the motor controllers inside the Titan, citing a potential wiring problem.
Reflecting on the incident, Koehler emphasized,
“If the weather permitted, and it was beautiful out and Stockton and asked me if I wanted a spot in a submarine, I would have said yes, and it could have been me. So I’m very thankful that I’m here today.”
