On Monday night, unidentified intruders breached Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Tongai Mnangagwa’s offices, intensifying the ongoing enigma surrounding burglaries targeting close relatives of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The deputy minister verified the incident on Tuesday morning, stating that the perpetrators entered through the ceiling. “We are still determining if anything was taken. The police are currently on the scene,” he informed a local newspaper.
His office is situated in the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) building on Samera Machel Avenue in central Harare.
Related Incidents Involving the Mnangagwa Family
This break-in follows a series of similar attacks, including a recent burglary at the home of David Kudakwashe Mnangagwa, the president’s son, in Borrowdale, Harare.
On June 25, an intruder, referred to by the police as the “ghost raider,” left behind six cartridges—three near the finance deputy minister’s main bedroom door and three on the lawn outside the two-story house.
David Mnangagwa’s residence, located on Camel Road, is under constant guard by two police officers.
The first security breach occurred on June 23 at around 10 PM, during which unknown intruders stole a 9mm Beretta pistol with 15 live rounds and $500 in cash from the government official’s bedroom while he and his wife watched TV.
The most recent incident was a fire at the 35-year-old deputy minister’s house on June 28, just before midnight.
History of Intrusions in The Mnangagwa Family
The pattern of mysterious invasions targeting the Mnangagwa family extends back to when Emmerson Mnangagwa was the Vice President under the late President Robert Mugabe’s administration.

In 2014, unidentified individuals broke into Mnangagwa’s government and party offices six times. Four of these break-ins occurred while he was the Justice Minister and once during his tenure as the Defense Minister.
In one particularly alarming incident at his Zanu PF headquarters office in Harare, suspects allegedly laced his desk with cyanide, resulting in his secretary being hospitalized due to poisoning.
In most cases, nothing was stolen, and no arrests were made.
