Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Thembi Simelane will appear before the Portfolio Committee of Justice and Constitutional Development on Friday, to give insight on her involvement in getting a loan from the collapsed VBS Mutual Bank.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has also sought urgent clarity from her and asked for a briefing. Simelane is alleged to have received a half-million rand loan from an intermediary that canvassed for loans from VBS.
This was after National Treasury issued a notice that any dealings with the bank was unlawful. Simelane was the Mayor of the Polokwane Municipality at the time of getting the loan.
