Kaizer Chiefs centre back Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is back in training after shoulder surgery and coach Cavin Johnson is hoping to use him in one of the club’s last six games of the DStv Premiership season remaining.
The Botswana captain was hurt paying for his country in a World Cup qualifier against Guinea in Francistown in November and required surgery on his rotator cuff.
Up until the injury he had been ever present for Chiefs after joining from SuperSport United at the start of the season, and was forming an impressive central defensive pairing with fellow new signing Given Msimango.
Chiefs have continued to have one of the tightest defences in the league, despite plummeting down to 10th place after losing to Richards Bay in Umlazi on Sunday but are struggling to score. They are tied for third for the least goals conceded in the league this season.
“He’s been training and he’s almost there and we just hope that we can give him some time before the season ends,” said the Chiefs’ interim coach. But TT is a defender. I need strikers. Maybe I will make him a striker to score a goal, if not for nothing else,” he quipped.
