Kaizer Chiefs clinched the title of the inaugural 2024 Cultural Urban Festival Africa (CUFA) Cup by defeating Marumo Gallants 4-3 in a penalty shootout in Bloemfontein earlier today. This new tournament replaces the annual Macufe Cup.
There were concerns that the match might be canceled due to a contractual dispute between the Gallants and the organizers, but HomeSide confirmed their participation just this morning after reaching a resolution.
The match ended goalless after 90 minutes, leading to penalties. Both teams converted their first three attempts.
Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma became the standout player by saving the fourth penalty from Gallants, giving his team the upper hand. Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel then scored to make it 4-3. Bvuma went on to save another penalty, securing the CUFA Cup for his team.
