Yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday gave an 80-year-old man US$800 for dancing at his grandson Yasha Mafidi’s memorial.

 

Yasha Mafidi Mnangagwa’s Death

Yasha Mafidi Mnangagwa passed away due to respiratory complications at the age of five in October 2022. He was the son of the President’s twin son, Sean Mnangagwa. Sean is the more reserved twin who is in the Zimbabwe National Army. Yasha Mafidi passed on at a local hospital where he was receiving treatment.

At the child’s funeral, President Mnangagwa revealed that his grandson succumbed to pneumonia, which developed after he accidentally took food down his windpipe.

Mafidi’s burial took place at the family home in Bikita, and he was laid to rest close to his great-grandfather, also named Mafidi. Many dignitaries, including Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, Kembo Mohadi, Cabinet Ministers, and senior Government officials attended the funeral.

 

The Memorial Service Of Yasha Mafidi

Yesterday, the Mnangagwa family visited Bikita to hold Yasha Mafidi’s memorial service. They also unveiled his tombstone.

The First family, relatives, friends, government officials and community members converged at Kushanduka Farm in Masvingo to celebrate little Mafidi’s life.

80-Year-Old Man Dances, Gets US$800 From President Mnangagwa

At the memorial, an 80-year-old man was thrilled by the music the deejay played. He ran to the front of the stage and got down dancing. He was even attempting acrobatics while dancing. President Mnangagwa immediately got up and handed him US$800 cash.

He jubilantly danced after getting the money, and the President got up to greet him.
