Man Threatens To Kill Girlfriend For Refusing To Terminate Pregnancy

A 33-year-old man from Plumtree finds himself entangled in legal issues after an attempt to pressure his girlfriend into terminating an unplanned pregnancy. The incident recently unfolded at the Plumtree Magistrates Court.

On Friday, Plumtree Magistrate Joshua Nembaware issued a warrant to arrest Bhekimpilo Moyo, the man accused in this case. Moyo was absent from his scheduled court appearance, leading authorities to initiate this action. The court proceedings presided over by Magistrate Nembaware, detailed the events leading up to the charges filed against Moyo.

Plumtree man attacks Girlfriend because of pregnancy

The situation reportedly escalated on August 26 when Moyo visited his girlfriend’s home. According to court documents, he attempted to pressure her into an abortion after learning of her pregnancy, a demand that she firmly rejected. This refusal is believed to have triggered a violent response from Moyo.

In the altercation that followed, Moyo allegedly pulled a knife and threatened his girlfriend’s life. Fearing for her safety, she managed to flee to a neighbour’s home, seeking temporary refuge from the escalating violence. Her quick actions helped her avoid physical harm.

Further Aggression, Property Damage And Legal Action

Moyo allegedly returned the following day, escalating his actions further. According to the prosecution, he threw soil into her room and forcibly entered, eventually seizing her mobile phone. This invasive behaviour has added additional charges to the case.

The case is being prosecuted by Selestine Madziwa, who highlighted the severity of the threats and actions taken by Moyo. The court will determine the outcome based on evidence presented, as the state seeks to hold Moyo accountable for his actions and the subsequent distress caused to the victim.

The accused is still on the run and the victim fears for her life.
