Businessman and politician Scott Sakupwanya made a flashy appearance at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday, 6 July 2025, arriving in a brand-new 2025 Lamborghini Urus, a luxury SUV worth over US$240,000.

The gold dealer-turned-football club owner was at the stadium to watch his side, Scottland FC, take on Harare giants CAPS United in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League derby.

CAPS United Silence the Noise With a Crucial Derby Win

Despite the fanfare surrounding Sakupwanya and his expensive wheels, it was CAPS United who made the biggest statement on the pitch. The Green Machine battled to a narrow but important 1–0 victory, powered by a debut goal from Zambian striker Chris Mugalu, who headed in the winner late in the first half.

This match came with extra spice, as it followed intense online banter between fans of both teams. CAPS, however, had the last laugh, avenging their 2–0 loss to Scottland in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

The victory moved CAPS United up to 10th place with 23 points, giving them a much-needed boost as they aim to push higher in the second half of the campaign.

Some criticised the optics of flaunting wealth in a struggling economy, others defended Sakupwanya’s community work, and a few simply saw the car as just another four-wheeled machine.
