Mercury expected to drop further in Gauteng, with flood & thunderstorm warnings

As temperatures begin to drop across Gauteng, thunderstorms and flood warnings have been issued for the province.

In the capital, the City of Tshwane Emergency Services has advised residents to take extra caution amid colder temperatures.

This follows an official yellow level two warning by the SA Weather Service.

“Be aware that a combination of hail, strong winds, heavy rains, and or excessive lighting can accompany storms,” said Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.

Joburg Emergency Management Services has echoed these sentiments.

“Our residents are encouraged to continue to look after all heating devices not to leave them unattended so that we can prevent fire incidents at home,” said spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi.

Temperatures are expected to continue dipping before a slight increase later in the week.
