Marshall Munetsi, stand-in skipper of the Zimbabwe Warriors, has expressed optimism about the team’s adaptability to new coach Michael Nees’ game plan as they prepare for their 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Munetsi acknowledged that the team is starting to see the benefits of Nees’ system, saying, “We are starting to see his ideas…the guys are starting to gear up because we have been playing together for a couple of games now.”
The Warriors face Kenya on Friday and Cameroon next Tuesday, and Munetsi is confident that the team can secure positive results despite previous losses to Kenya. “We’ve played them before, so we know what to expect,” he said.
Munetsi also acknowledged the absence of key players, including Brendan Galloway, Marvelous Nakamba, and Tino Kadewere, but remains focused on the present squad and their ability to execute Nees’ system.
With his leadership and positive attitude, Munetsi is poised to play a crucial role in the Warriors’ AFCON campaign.
