Evidence in the high-profile trial against alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack on Tuesday showed how one of the co-accused orchestrated three botched attacks on slain top cop Charl Kinnear.
Modack and 14 co-accused face 122 charges for various crimes centered around Kinnear’s murder.
Co-accused Amaal Jantjies faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder for allegedly plotting three attacks on Kinnear on behalf of Modack in 2019.
It’s the State’s case, Jantjies attempted to use Modack to have her then-boyfriend Yannick Adonis who’s a fellow co-accused released on bail for a murder charge.
Judge Robert Henney confirmed Modack’s alleged involvement with the State’s witness Hawks officer, Captain Trevor Shaw.
“Which would mean Mr Modack would have financed the launch of a bail application for Yannick Adonis in favour of her getting somebody to do a hit.”
Messages extracted from Jantjies’ cellphone shows she made contact with at least three gunmen in November 2019 – to attack Kinnear’s home in Bishop Lavis.
The matter will be back in court on Wednesday.
