Here Are the New Beitbridge Border Toll Charges Effective February 2025

Zimborders, the company managing the Beitbridge border post, has announced new toll fees set to take effect on 1 February 2025. While fees for non-commercial vehicles remain unchanged, commercial vehicle operators will see increased charges.

Incremental Hikes for Commercial Vehicles

In an official statement, Zimborders said the adjustment was necessary to maintain service quality. “We have worked diligently to keep these increases to a minimum in order to help ease the burden of inflation on our customers,” the company explained.

Fees for light goods vehicles and buses will go up by $2, while heavy trucks face a $6 increase. The full breakdown of the new fees includes:

  • Light Vehicle (unchanged): $28
  • Minibus (unchanged): $41
  • Coach/Light Goods Vehicle: $85
  • Heavy Vehicle: $122
  • Goods Vehicle: $213
  • Abnormal Load Vehicle: $365

In addition, parking fees for freight and abnormal vehicles have been revised to $49 and $61, respectively.

Contract Details and Investment

The toll adjustments come as part of Zimborders’ agreement to manage the border post for 17.5 years. The company invested nearly US$300 million in constructing a new border facility, with the aim of creating a more efficient crossing.

“Your ongoing support is invaluable to us and plays a vital role in our mission to become the most efficient Border Post in Africa,” Zimborders stated in the announcement.

Despite economic challenges, Zimborders assured users that non-commercial vehicle fees, including motorcycles and passenger cars, will not increase in 2025.
