The Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court has denied controversial Pastor Paseka ‘Mboro’ Motsoeneng bail.
Mboro, alongside two co-accused made their third court appearance on Monday in a bid to secure bail.
Two weeks ago, police arrested and charged the three with kidnapping and assault after a video showed the men forcefully removing two children from school using pangas and a rifle.
It is understood that the ordeal was over custody issues between the maternal and paternal families of the two children.
However, Magistrate Katlego Mokoena released one of the accused, who can only be identified as a close relative with a warning.
She denied Mboro and the second co-accused bail, citing a sloppy affidavit and poor reasoning to substantiate their release.
“The applicants did not have an obstacle of discharging the higher burden found in Schedule 6 bail applications. They simply needed to demonstrate to this court that the interest of justice permits their release as opposed to the higher test found under Schedule 6 bail application. Their affidavits did not dispute that they are linked to the offences preferred by the state. There’s a strong case against them,” Mokoena said.
