“No Off Days”: Woman Seeks Court’s Protection Against Husband’s Bedroom Demands

Woman Seeks Protection Against Husband’s Relentless Bedroom Demands

A Harare woman has turned to the courts seeking protection against her husband’s insatiable bedroom appetite, which has become unbearable. Nancy Chihota alleged her husband, Benny Hizaki, demands to share their marital bed every day, even during profoundly personal and tragic moments such as her mother’s funeral.

“No Off Days” Even During Mourning

According to H-Metro, in her heartfelt testimony, Chihota recounted how Hizaki forced himself on her before she left for her mother’s funeral, despite her grief.

“With tears still on my cheeks, he forced himself on me,” she told the court.

She explained how his demands continued upon her return from the funeral despite her exhaustion and emotional turmoil.

Chihota described how her husband’s appetite for physical intimacy was relentless and insensitive to her physical condition.

“He insists on being intimate every day when he comes home from work, even if I’m on my monthly periods,” she said.

She further explained that Hizaki had threatened to marry a second wife if she continued to refuse his advances.

The constant pressure, she admitted, has taken a toll on her feelings.

“I still love him, but because of the way he acts, sometimes I feel like I’m losing interest in him,” she added.

Betrayal and Retaliation

Hizaki, in his defence, presented a startling accusation in court, claiming that Chihota had kept her HIV status a secret.

“She has been taking antiretroviral drugs for the past five years, and she never told me,” he said. “I feel like I should punish her for those five years.”

Despite his harsh words, Hizaki insisted he still loved his wife but said her secrecy had damaged the trust between them.

“I also love her, but she can’t be trusted,” he remarked.

His justification left the courtroom stunned as the balance between marital duties and personal autonomy became the central focus of the case.

Court Grants Protection Order

After hearing both sides, Magistrate Meenal Narotam ruled in favour of Chihota, granting a protection order to shield her from further abuse.

The ruling emphasised the importance of boundaries within marriage and the necessity for mutual respect.

The case has sparked conversations about the complexities of marriage, the limits of conjugal rights, and the need for partners to respect each other’s emotional and physical well-being.
