No reports of major flooding yet as cold front hits Western Cape

With inclement weather conditions sweeping through the Western Cape this weekend, the provincial infrastructure department is calling on road users to adhere to be cautious.

The South African Weather Service has issued an orange-yellow level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall in the province for Saturday.

With rain already pouring in some parts, the department said there are currently no new reports of flooded roads.

Provincial Infrastructure Spokesperson Jandre Bakker said that emergency teams remain on high alert.

“There’s also been no reports of damage to properties of the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure building portfolio. We thank our teams our out on the field especially out in the regions. We remain cautiously optimistic that the measures put in place will reap rewards.”
