Veteran Nigerian Actor Amaechi Muonagor Dies Aged 62, Weeks After Mr Ibu
In a sombre development, veteran Nigerian actor Amaechi Muonagor has died aged 62.
His death follows closely after the recent death of another beloved Nollywood veteran John Okafor, who was widely known as Mr Ibu.

Amaechi Muonagor Dies: History of Health Challenges Unveiled
Amaechi Muonagor died on Sunday after a long battle with kidney-related issues, diabetes and stroke. The popular actor suffered a stroke in 2023 which left his left leg partially paralysed.
The exact details surrounding Amaechi Muonagor’s death are still unknown at the time of writing.
Tragically, his death came a few days after he took to social media seeking financial support so that he could afford a much-needed kidney transplant. In one of the videos that went viral on social media, the actor was lying on top of a hospital bed, his chest heavily bandaged and struggling to speak.
A fellow actor who was standing beside his hospital bed appealed for assistance on his behalf and explained that Amaechi Muonagor was in dire need of financial assistance.
A Legacy Remembered: Amaechi Muonagor’s Versatility and Impact
The versatile actor became a household name for his memorable performance in the Nollywood classic ‘Aki and Pawpaw’, where he played the role of the father of two mischief-making young boys. Amaechi Mounagor leaves behind his wife, Hope Chikodi Muonagor, and their children.
Amaechi Muonagor’s death comes amidst a period of mourning for Nigerians who are still coming to terms with the loss of fellow actor John Okafor, affectionately known as Mr Ibu.
Mr Ibu passed away on the 2nd of March, 2024, as a result of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, where he had been admitted to the intensive care unit.
