A Gauteng nurse accused of killing her 21-year-old domestic worker for a R6 million life cover payout is back in court on Wednesday.
Sithembile Happiness Xulu and her gardener, Simon Mogale, have been charged with Busisiwe Nxumalo’s murder and are facing fraud charges relating to three different life insurance claims.
Police said Xulu fraudulently took out three life cover policies worth R1 million each while impersonating Nxumalo and declared herself as the sole beneficiary.
Equipped with the knowledge that if Nxumalo were to die of unnatural causes, she would pocket a sum of R6 million.
With their plans foiled and now stuck behind bars, the funds have since been frozen.
The pair returns to the same court for a bail hearing.
