Nyaungwe Arts Production Wins Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival for Fifth Time

The Nyaungwe Arts Production dance group from Murewa has emerged victorious in the 2024 edition of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, marking their fifth win in the prestigious competition. The 15-member group showcased their impressive skills in the Mbende (Jerusarema) dances, outshining nine other contestants at the finals held in Masvingo.

Their outstanding performance earned them a prize of $15,000 from the organizers, Delta Corporation. Harare’s Culture Warriors took second place, receiving $10,000, while last year’s winners, Dapurahunanzva, came in third and were awarded $7,500.

The Nyaungwe Arts Production secretary expressed the group’s excitement and gratitude for the win, revealing their ambition to take their traditional dances to cultural festivals in neighboring countries.
