Omar Global Consultants Owner Accused of Scamming Cruise Ship Job Seekers, Victim Demands Refund

Harare businessman, Herbert Maganga, who owns Omar Global Consultants was recently dragged to court for allegedly defrauding individuals seeking jobs on cruise ships.

According to H-Metro, Maganga stand accused of scamming people into paying up to $1,000, claiming the money would cover all the necessary fees and arrangements to secure them jobs on cruise ships.

Victim Demands Refund for Unfulfilled Promises

Maganga appeared before the Harare Civil Court recently after several people accused him of promising to secure them jobs on cruise ships in exchange for hefty payments.

Among the complainants is Tendai Mutapudzi, a student who claims she was scammed out of US$500 by Maganga.

Mutapudzi claims that despite making the payment, she never received the promised certificate that Maganga had assured her would be provided.

“I want my $500, which I paid for fees to get the certificate, but I did not get it,” Mutapudzi told the court.

She further stated that Maganga had informed her the money was for an agent’s fee, but she ultimately decided not to attend the school after seeing that her seniors had not received their certificates as promised.

“I just want my money back and start a business with it rather than just giving my money to someone for nothing,” she added.

In response, Maganga disputed the allegations, stating that Mutapudzi owed him nothing as the money she paid was for her fees.

“She paid $500 instead of paying $1,000 yet she is claiming that she needs her money back,” Maganga argued in his defense.

He claimed that the reason for the issues was that many Zimbabweans had previously run away after securing jobs on cruise ships, leading to all Zimbabweans being blacklisted.
