Orlando Pirates Eye Speedy Zimbabwean Striker Daniel Msendami
Orlando Pirates are reportedly eyeing Zimbabwean striker Daniel Msendami, just four games into the new season, in hopes of bolstering their attacking options. Msendami, currently playing for Marumo Gallants after a move from Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy, has caught the attention of the Pirates’ scouts, who have been monitoring his performance for some time.
Orlando Pirates’ Interest in Daniel Msendami
Sources close to both Marumo Gallants and Orlando Pirates revealed that the Buccaneers are keen on securing Msendami’s services. The 22-year-old striker, known for his pace and skill, has impressed the technical team at Pirates, who believe he could be a valuable addition to the squad. However, it’s still unclear whether the club intends to sign him during the January transfer window or at the end of the season.
“What we are not sure of is whether it’s for January or for the end of the season but what I can tell you is that the technical team as well as the scouts are believed to be happy with the player,” said the source.
“The good thing is he is still young and can join the club at any time if they still need him. But for now it has just been inquiries about the player,” the source added.
Longstanding Interest in the Striker
Pirates have been keeping tabs on Msendami for quite some time. According to insiders, their interest dates back to his time in Botswana, where he played for Jwaneng Galaxy. Msendami made a significant impact during a CAF Champions League match against Pirates, scoring the goal that knocked the Buccaneers out of the competition.
“You remember that even before Msendami signed for Marumo Gallants there were three other clubs interested in him from the PSL and Gallants were not one of those three. But last season Pirates also inquired about him after their CAF Champions League encounter against Jwaneng Galaxy where he scored the goal which eliminated Pirates from the Champions League. So since then, there has been interest from Pirates,” the second source stated.
Marumo Gallants’ Response
When contacted, Marumo Gallants’ spokesperson, Sello Nduna, said he had no concrete information about an official offer from Pirates, noting that the rumours were news to him.
