Panyaza Lesufi warns criminals ahead of festive season operation plan launch

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the launch of the national festive season operation plan will send a strong message to criminals that police are tired of crime. Speaking at the launch in Mamelodi northeast of Pretoria earlier today, Lesufi says 18.000 CCTV cameras would be installed along township roads in Gauteng to monitor criminal activities.

The cameras will also be installed at churches and sporting areas. Lesufi says the aim is to ensure quick response to criminal activity.

“We are now putting up CCTV cameras in all our townships, so that there’s no crime that happens in our townships and we are not aware of that crime. We are now establishing three new command centers to look at the cameras day and night, so that when this cameras record crime we can disperse law enforcement agencies immediately,” explains Lesufi.
