Legendary Musician Alick Macheso Cleared for Epic Album Launch Event at Alexander Sports Club
All is set for Alick Macheso’s highly anticipated album launch.
This comes as the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has officially given the green light for the launch of Alick Macheso’s latest album, “Kupa Kuturika.”
Legendary sungura musician Alick Macheso is set to launch his highly anticipated 13th album on Friday, August 2, 2024 (today) at the Alexander Sports Club in Harare.
Initial Concerns and Police Clearance
There were initial concerns that the police might ban the event due to the SADC Summit. However, Chief Superintendent Godfrey Moyo, the Officer Commanding Harare District, confirmed the event’s clearance, The Sunday Mail reveals
“Your notification letter to hold a musical event on the 2nd of August 2024 at Alex Sports Club from 2100hrs to 0400hrs has been noted. Please confine your event to the above-stated venue and times outlined. Make sure that no Zimbabwean laws are violated. The police will monitor,” said Chief Superintendent Moyo.
He assured Macheso’s team that the police would closely monitor the event to ensure it proceeds without incident.
Album Details and Production
Alick Macheso’s latest album, “Kupa Kuturika,” marks his 13th studio release. The album includes six tracks: “Kuverengera,” “Undiregererewo,” “Zvichada Hama,” “Murangarire,” “Kunditaya,” and “Hunhu Hwakashata.”
The album was produced at Macheso’s Alema Music Studios in Chitungwiza by Bothwell Nyamhodera, with Aaron Tomu serving as the audio engineer.
Star-Studded Lineup
The album launch promises to be a grand event with a star-studded lineup of supporting acts. Performers include youthful musicians Saintfloew, Andy Muridzo, Feli Nandi, Enzo Ishall, and the Chillspot Records clique led by hype-man DJ Fantan. Additionally, Macheso’s own sons, Esau and Tatenda, who lead the popular Cheso Boys band, will also take the stage.
