The remains of former Minister of Public Enterprises Pravin Gordhan have been moved from his Pretoria home after the final viewing by close friends and family.
This is ahead of Gordhan’s memorial service, which is scheduled to take place at the Johannesburg City Hall on Tuesday afternoon.
The struggle stalwart died in hospital last week, following a short battle with cancer.
Close friends, family, and fellow struggle icons gathered at Gordhan’s Pretoria home to view his remains for the final time.
With his coffin draped in an African National Congress (ANC) flag, his children observed as friends carefully placed it onto the hearse.
Some mourners were visibly moved to tears as they watched the coffin depart the family home earlier in the morning.
Gordhan is scheduled to be cremated in Durban on Thursday.
