A terrifying incident occurred in Masvingo today when an Airforce of Zimbabwe helicopter carrying VIP dignitaries crashed. Fortunately, President ED Mnangagwa was not on board, and no casualties have been reported.
According to government spokesperson Nick Mangwana, who took to Twitter to address the incident, “There was an aviation incident involving one of the Airforce of Zimbabwe Helicopters that traveled to Masvingo today. Thankfully, there were no casualties.”
Mangwana assured the public that the Civil Aviation Authorities are investigating the incident and their findings will be shared with the nation when available.
“The relevant authorities are already investigating the cause of the incident, and we will keep the public informed of any developments,” Mangwana stated.
The President’s office has also confirmed that President Mnangagwa was not on board the helicopter and is safe.
This incident has sent shockwaves across the nation, but the swift response from authorities and the confirmation of no casualties have brought relief to many.
