SANparks expects over 30 000 visitors to KNP during free week

The South African National Parks (SANparks) says it expects at least over 30 000 visitors to the Kruger National Park during this year’s SANparks week.

Yesterday marked the beginning of the 19th annual SANparks week which will run until Sunday. Members of the public enjoy free access to most of the 21 national parks under the organisation’s management.

SANparks spokesperson Ike Phaahla, “We are going to have our protection services out on the road in numbers, especially in the hotspots and they are going to be accompanied by the South African Police Service as well as the SANDF to enforce the rules and regulations of the parks and to monitor the speed limit of people who are coming in. Just to remind those visiting, the speed limit on tarred roads is 50 km/h but on gravel roads is 40 km/h.
