In an unexpected turn of events, a security guard assigned to the ZB Bank branch in Sanyati, Mashonaland West, is reported to have robbed his workplace and left with a significant sum of money.
The alleged theft occurred on Saturday, and the guard left with $134,000 and R38,800. The circumstances surrounding the incident have raised considerable suspicion.
Police Confirmation and Current Status
Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, has verified the occurrence of the robbery but has withheld detailed information at this time.

“The investigation is ongoing, and while we acknowledge the suspicious nature of the case, we are currently limited in what we can disclose,” Nyathi stated.
The amount stolen, approximately $134,000, is confirmed as part of the investigation.
Details of the Incident
According to preliminary reports, the suspect, identified as Samson Mahohoma, an employee of Peace Security, reportedly used his authorized firearm to orchestrate the robbery. Mahohoma is alleged to have confronted Rufaro Lugundiya, the branch manager, along with other staff members who were in the process of counting cash in one of the bank’s rooms.

Under duress, the staff were ordered to lie on the ground at gunpoint. The guard then allegedly collected the money into a sack, seized their mobile phones, and confined the victims in the room before making his escape. Mahohoma is on the run, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. Information on Mahohoma’s whereabouts is not known, but the police are hunting for him.
