The state in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has led evidence pointing to the second accused having a phone while in police custody.
The North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria is still hearing cellphone evidence as part of the state’s case.
A forensic supervisor at Vodacom has been testifying on cellphone communication from multiple phone numbers.
Five men stand accused of Meyiwa’s 2014 murder.
Bongani Ntanzi, the man accused of being one of the intruders when Meyiwa was killed kept his eyes glued to Vodacom’s Forensic supervisor, Pinky Vythilingam on Thursday.
Vythilingam testified on his cellphone communication.
In focus was a number attributed to Ntanzi, which appeared to have been making multiple and sometimes lengthy phone calls to a number linked to his girlfriend.
This was during August and September 2020, while he was under arrest at the Pretoria north police station for his alleged involvement in Meyiwa’s murder.
According to Ntanzi, his phone was taken on his arrest and the cellphone that the state claims he was using to make calls and download pictures of guns- was not in his possession.
Vythilingam has told the court however that Ntanzi’s number made contact with ‘his girlfriend’s number every day between August and September 2020 while he was under arrest.
