Serial rapist Sifiso Mkhwanazi branded as arrogant & a danger to society

The High Court sitting in Palm Ridge has described convicted rapist and murderer Sifiso Mkhwanazi as arrogant and a great danger to society.

Mkhwanazi was slapped with a life sentence earlier on Wednesday for raping and murdering six women, who he claims were sex workers, between April and October 2022.

The court ruled that he was likely to re-offend and had shown no remorse for his killing spree.

It also outlined that he would only be able to review his sentence in court in 30 years.

At just 21 years old, Mkhwanazi is now branded a danger to society. The court firmly rejected his bid for a reduced sentence by attempting to justify his actions. It imposed the maximum penalty.

While Mkhwanazi currently has no chance of release, in 30 years, at the age of 52, he will return to court in the hope of being deemed fit for reintegration into society.

“The accused shall be brought before this court after 30 years for reconsideration of his sentence,” said High Court Judge Caseem Moosa.

Although parole was not addressed on Wednesday, Judge Moosa assured the victims’ families that their voices would be heard if a parole process was initiated.
