A Shurugwi woman is in the dock after she furiously poured hot cooking oil on her husband for starving her of lula lula.

Forty-three-year-old Chiedza Tototai, of Village 2 Rentfontein Ruchanyu area in Shurugwi, is facing charges of domestic violence at the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court. Magistrate Sithabile Zungula remanded her in custody, and she will remain in prison for overreacting because of tl0f tl0f.

The State Prosecution told the court that on 4 May 2024, Chiedza got into a verbal fight with her 40-year-old husband, Sheperd Gwenzi. The couple were lying in bed at 6 am, and Chiedza was expressing her disgruntlement over how Sheperd was not servicing her.

Some witnesses said Chiedza had grumbled that her husband only had lula lula with the first wife.

The fight got so heated that an enraged Chiedza stormed out of bed and briskly rushed to a nearby hut.

Surely hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Masvingo Mirror reported that the woman boiled cooking oil and smuggled the pot to her bedroom. Unfazed and with devilish nonchalance, Chiedza doused the steaming oil over her husband’s face.

When she took the stand in court, Chiedza said she had boiled the oil to bake buns. However, as she argued with Sheperd, the pot fell from the fire and spilt on her husband, badly scalding him.

The court poked holes into her explanation, positing that the bedroom where Sheperd was was a separate room from the kitchen.
