Slain EFF councillor described as great leader and visionary

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Johannesburg regional leader and councillor, Moshe Mphahlele has been described as a great leader and visionary. This emerged at his memorial service at the San Kopano Hall in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg.

Mphahlele was shot and killed on Sunday during a service delivery protest, while police and private security officers were evicting people occupying containers erected to provide shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic in Alexandra.

The circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated. Mphalele’s friend and neighbour, David Futhane says he will be missed in the community.

“Fighter Moshe laughed and smiled with everyone here, he taught us it doesn’t matter how we disagree. He taught us not to hate each other based on ideological differences and that was Moshe. He taught us how to learn from our differences and make solutions out of that, that was Moshe. He did not hold grudges.
