Justice Mayor Wadyajena, a prominent businessman and former legislator for Gokwe Nembudziya, has been acquitted of all fraud-related accusations following a favourable ruling from the Supreme Court.
In May of this year, the High Court ruled in favour of Wadyajena, returning his properties after determining that there was no valid reason for their continued seizure. However, the matter escalated to the Supreme Court as the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) contested this ruling, arguing that Wadyajena should not regain possession of his assets.

Supreme Court Rules In Wadyajena’s favour
On Monday, the Supreme Court threw NPA’s appeal out the window, declaring the businessman innocent. Speaking to the media, his attorney shared that:
“Our clients have consistently asserted their innocence, and it has been clear from the beginning that no case existed against them. They have always maintained ownership of their properties, which were legally obtained. We have repeatedly sought trial dates, but to no avail. Hence, our clients are now free of these accusations.”
Allegations of Political Motives
Wadyajena has alleged that the charges against him were politically motivated and intended to derail his political career. He shared that ZACC could not find evidence for their case as it was not there.

At one point, the ZACC resisted returning Wadyajena’s luxury vehicles under dubious pretexts, which the High Court subsequently dismissed.
