Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company says free cable car birthday rides can be redeemed after maintenance done

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company said that South Africans celebrating their birthdays while operations are suspended would not lose out on their free birthday rides.

Table Mountain will be inaccessible via cable car for about seven weeks from 15 July.

This is because the cable car will be undergoing major maintenance work.

South African ID holders are eligible for a free return ticket on the cable car on the day of their birthday or the month of.

“As we do in the past, if you celebrate your birthday during these seven weeks, we will allow you to redeem your birthday ticket once we are open, which will be on the 2nd of September and then we invite all of you to come and have your free birthday ride,” said cable company managing director, Wahida Parker.

Parker said that cable car cardholders would also not lose out on their perks.

“We normally give them an extension on their annual cable card to compensate for the fact that for two months they would not be using their cable cards.”
