Harare Man Robbed of US$7,000 After Pepper Spray Attack

In a brazen daylight robbery, a Harare man was reportedly attacked and robbed of US$7,000 while relieving himself near the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport.

The bizarre robbery has raised questions and speculations on social media.

Police Confirm The Robbery

The ZRP confirmed the robbery which occurred near the intersection of Simon Muzenda Street and Kenneth Kaunda Avenue, close to the Railways Wagons Strips along Kenneth Kaunda Road on their X account.

Police in Harare are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a case of robbery which occurred at a bushy area at Railways Wagons Strips along Kenneth Kaunda Road, Harare,” the ZRP stated.

The victim had hired a taxi from Road Port bus terminus, intending to travel to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport around 8:30 AM. During the journey, he asked the driver to stop so he could relieve himself.

Attack and Robbery

While in a bushy area, the man was assaulted and pepper sprayed by three unknown assailants. The assailants made off with US$7,000.

Three unknown suspects pepper sprayed the complainant before stealing US$7,000 cash,” the police report detailed.

Upon regaining consciousness, the victim reported the robbery to the police. As of now, both the taxi driver and the suspects remain at large.

The police are actively investigating the case and have called for anyone with information to report to the nearest police station.

Anyone with information should report to any nearest Police Station,” they advised.
