Dynamos fans are divided after head coach Genesis Mangombe resigned following a crisis meeting held yesterday.
“Chazunguza” appointed Mangombe on 9 August 2023 to succeed Herbert Maruwa, whom the club had chucked out.
Dynamos Confirms That Coach Genesis Mangombe Has Resigned
In a statement, Dynamos’ executive chairperson, Moses Maunganidze, confirmed the development:
“We wish to advise all our stakeholders that the club has gracefully accepted the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as head coach of Dynamos Football Club with immediate effect. We want to thank Mr Mangombe for the services he rendered to the club and for all the achievements the club attained during his tenure.
“While the transition may be difficult to some, the club shall always uphold in high esteem his key competencies and good workmanship. We wish him well in his future opportunities.”
Mangombe’s tenure at Dynamos has been lacklustre. However, despite his inconsistency, he won the Chibuku Super Cup and took the club back to continental football.
In 22 Castle Lager Premiership games, he has won 6, drawn 12, and lost 4. Following Sunday’s draw against Bulawayo Chiefs, Dynamos is currently seventh with 30 points, 13 off log leaders Simba Bhora. The club has only scored 19 times in 22 outings.
Meanwhile, Dynamos’ executive chairperson revealed that “Mablanyo” will fill in Mangombe’s role for now:
“In the interim, first assistant coach Lloyd Chigowe will be the acting head coach until further notice.”
In 2018, Dynamos appointed Chigowe to replace Lloyd Mutasa, but they fired him after three games. He has, however, remained within the club.
Fans Divided Over The Resignation
Dynamos fans reacted to the resignation of Genesis Mangombe as the club’s head coach.
Nathan:
“So this was the resolution in their meeting yesterday. It seems he was told to resign himself rather than being fired. A lot has changed for my beloved Blue Army #SevenMillion”
Wellington:
“He was supposed to resign last year.”
Hamish:
“Shame Mangombe was a good Coach. We shall miss him.”
John:
“Ndiraya was fired and is doing wonders at Simba Bhora; Herbert was fired and is doing well at his new club. Recycling coaches is not the solution. Ngatitsvageyi chikonzero chaita musoro uteme.”
Dwyne:
“Mangombe aingoda ma players chete he was good.”
Shepherd:
“The problem is Marriot. You can change coaches a million times Dynamos will never win anything.”
