Three Zimbabwean Men Get Life Sentences For Brutally Murdering Two Woman Who Refused Tlof Tlof Advances

Three Zimbabwean men have been handed life sentences in the courts of South Africa after they brutally murdered three women who refused their tlof tlof advances.

In a significant ruling, the Pretoria High Court has sentenced three men from Zimbabwe, Edison Ngamiko (38), Amos Hassan Masiya (38), and Edron Panashe Chisanako (39) were sentenced to life imprisonment for the brutal murders of two teenage girls.

Violence Erupts Following Tavern Encounter

The shocking case traces back to February 17, 2023, when the three accused met three young women, aged 15, 16, and 23, at a tavern in Olievenhoutbosch. Initial interactions involved the girls asking for financial assistance to purchase alcohol, which the men complied with.

However, tensions escalated when the girls requested more money. Chisanako allegedly coerced the youngest girl into providing sexual favours. Upon her refusal, he fatally shot the 16-year-old girl and subsequently murdered the other two. In the ensuing chaos, Ngamiko was unintentionally injured by gunfire while trying to eliminate the remaining survivor, who astonishingly managed to escape and report the incident to authorities.

Swift Police Response and Arrests

Authorities responded promptly to the scene, discovering the bodies of the deceased girls. Ngamiko was apprehended within days as he sought treatment for his gunshot wound. Masiya was arrested later on unrelated charges but was found to have connections to the murders.

Both men implicated Chisanako, who was subsequently captured shortly after that. Despite all three men entering not guilty pleas, Ngamiko and Masiya contended that Chisanako acted independently.

Prosecutor Advocate David Molokomme presented compelling evidence, including eyewitness accounts, that confirmed the involvement of all three men in the horrific acts. The prosecutor emphasized the defendants’ lack of remorse and their previous records of violent offences. Additionally, a Victim Impact Statement illustrated the profound psychological trauma experienced by the lone survivor, further solidifying the need for severe sentencing.

Despite appeals for leniency from the defence attorneys, Acting Judge Matlapeng sentenced all three men to life in prison.
