Department of Transport and Community Safety spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene has shared details of the accident on the R37 near the Smelters Mine outside Polokwane in Limpopo on Saturday night.
Controversial rap sensation Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke was involved in the car accident on his way to a gig at around 10 pm.
Chuene told the publication the driver sustained serious injuries, a passenger sustained moderate to serious injuries and a nine-year-old passenger died at the scene.
“A Volkswagen Polo is reported to have overturned after colliding with a heavy motor vehicle, killing the young girl and seriously injuring the driver and another passenger. The cause of the accident is under investigation,” she said.
Chuene said the names of all those involved in the accident would be made public “once all due police processes are satisfied”.
“The department sends our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. ”
A statement shared by Shebeshxt’s family on Monday confirmed the star was in hospital ” receiving medical attention”.
