Tshwane restores power after substation fire

The seat of government power was left powerless on Thursday.

A trip at the Bellom Substation left the Union Buildings without electricity.

At the same time, large parts of the Capital was plunged into darkness after a fire at the Kwagga Substation.

Firefighters eventually managed to extinguish the blaze,

It’s unclear what caused the fire, but the City has clarified it was not a transformer that exploded.

The city says it has now restored power to all areas.
