Encrypted Phone Reveals Last Internet Search
According to a report, Crooks’ last internet search before his attempted assassination was for adult content. Despite his intentions, he almost succeeded in targeting the former US president and presumptive Republican candidate.
A senior law enforcement official told The Daily Beast that the FBI gained access to Crooks’ encrypted Samsung phone and discovered his last search was for adult material. Initial attempts to access the device at the Pittsburgh field office were unsuccessful, requiring it to be sent to Quantico.

Concerned Parents’ Unanswered Texts
The only other recent activity on the phone was a series of text messages from Crooks’ parents, who believed he had taken one of his father’s AR-15 rifles to a local shooting range. However, around 6 p.m., Crooks opened fire on a Trump rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds, grazing the former president’s ear, killing one attendee, and critically wounding two others. Crooks was subsequently shot dead by a Secret Service sniper.
Just over a week after the assassination attempt, the FBI has mostly completed its investigation of Crooks’ phone and is now focusing on his laptop and hard drives found in his bedroom.

Disturbing Online History Uncovered
Investigators have uncovered a concerning online history, including searches related to Ethan Crumbley, the Oxford High School shooter, and other mass shooters.
Crooks had a photo of the mass shooter on his phone taken shortly after his arrest, as well as information about Crumbley’s parents, who were both convicted of involuntary manslaughter for not preventing their son’s attack.
In the days leading up to the attack, Crooks had also searched for Trump, President Biden, and other elected officials.
The discovery of adult content searches on Crooks’ phone was “not unusual,” according to the source, noting that other high-profile suspects, such as Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza and al-Qaeda suspects, have been found to have made similarly disturbing searches.
