Tragic Crash on Harare-Nyamapanda Road Claims Two Lives, Leaves Several Injured
Two people were killed, and several others injured after a Toyota Hilux sideswiped a Honda Fit.
The accident occurred on December 16, 2024, at approximately 1:50 PM near the 156-kilometre peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road.

Police Confirm Details of Harare-Nyamapanda Fatal Road Accident
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the accident on their official X account.
According to the police report, the collision occurred when a Toyota Hilux, carrying one passenger, sideswiped a Honda Fit with five occupants.
Following the impact, the Toyota Hilux overturned and landed on its side, while the Honda Fit overturned and came to rest on its wheels.
Tragically, two people lost their lives in the accident, and four others sustained injuries.

Grade 7 Student Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Grade 7 student tragically died after being struck by an unknown motorist who was driving a Nissan Caravan kombi. The incident occurred along New Chitungwiza Road.
“ZRP Mbare is investigating a hit-and-run fatal road traffic accident in which a grade 7 learner (13) died after being hit by an unknown motorist who was driving a Nissan Caravan kombi, registration number AGZ 0118, along New Chitungwiza Road on 15/12/24 at around 1352 hours.”
The driver of the Kombi reportedly dumped the body of the student and the vehicle at the hospital and before fleeing the scene.
“The driver dumped the body and kombi at Chitungwiza Hospital and fled to an unknown destination.”
The police are appealing to anyone with information about the accident to report to the nearest station. They also urged drivers to provide first aid and promptly report road accidents.
“Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
The ZRP reiterates that motorists must stop, render first aid and report road traffic accidents to the Police.”
