Two suspects are expected to appear at the Musina Magistrates Court for allegedly attempting to smuggle over 100 illegal explosives into the country.
Police said the suspects were handcuffed at the Beitbridge Border Post on Thursday while entering the country from Zimbabwe.
The pair was stopped by employees at the border to search their vehicle when the alleged explosives were discovered.
“The suspects were arrested at about 00:30 as they crossed into South Africa from Zimbabwe,” said police spokesperson Maselela Ledwaba.
“This was after their Toyota Quantum with a trailer was stopped, and upon searching it, police discovered commercial explosives concealed inside the bags.”
