Netizens have criticised the father of a Ugandan marathon runner Rebecca Cheptegei after he mourned her death. Rebecca was killed when her ex-boyfriend doused her in petrol and set her on fire, just weeks after competing in the Paris Olympics.
The 33-year-old athlete passed away on Wednesday after fighting for her life at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret, Kenya.

In an emotional interview with SwitchTV, Rebecca’s father, Joseph Cheptegei, expressed profound grief, calling her the family’s breadwinner.
“I have lost a daughter who helped me in many ways,” he said tearfully.
Tearfully, he spoke about how her death would impact the family, especially in ensuring the education of her younger siblings.
“We have children in secondary schools, and I don’t know how we are going to cope with this challenge to ensure they complete their studies,” he lamented.
